Denbosdog Posted April 8, 2014 Report Posted April 8, 2014 Hiya my name is Den.living in lincolnshire.i have a galaxy tdi automatic.2005.my problem is iol is leaking from the gearbox when hot,it seems as pressure builds up it pushes iol out through the breather.I had the car in at Sandicliffs Ford dealer at Melton Mowbrey for them to check and top up the gearbox it was almost empty and took 5 litres of oil.but they couldnt explain why it was pushing the gear oil out.i hav had the car into other garages but to no avail.have any of your members got any clues what might be causing the problem.the car had only 88.000 on the clock.hope someone can help thanks Den. traff Posted April 10, 2014 Report Posted April 10, 2014 you are not alone....i also have an auto with the same problem its rever been cured.....my own fix was ...pull the breather out.....push on a tube [fuel pipe]....about 6 to9 inches long ....push the breather into the end of the pipe and secure near the battery....this has worked for me for 10 years........dont know why this happens.....ford tech ...waste of space... traff Posted April 12, 2014 Report Posted April 12, 2014 this pipe ive talked about would be rubber fuel pipe ....the kind of thing you can get from a local motor factor...halfords or mdc..it will push on were the breather goes.cut to size .then push the breather mushroom on the end ...then stow near the battery .......this allows the preasure to rise and fall without pushing the oil out Quote
