mark230678 Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 I know this has been done to death, and there is loads of info in the FAQ's I have the above vehicle, but no electric windows at all. No global opening or closing. I do have electric opening rear vents - they work. When checking the wires to the drivers door, there have been some previous repairs to broken wires I have checked with a spare loom and still no joy. There has been some attempt at splicing various wires together at the widow and mirror switch. (red & yellow) Yellow & black) If i connect these together, the drivers window opens and closes for a few attempts and then blows the fuse. Clearly the switch and motor is ok as the splicing works. Has anybody got a diagram or code of colours to the doors. Does anyone have any advice please Quote
BrianH Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 Its possible that the wires in another door may be causing your issue (it seems you have only looked at the drivers door?) They all suffer the same problem just the drivers door will fail first as its used most often. The ones in the boot gaiter are known to cause all manner of weird problems elsewhere. Do you get a reaction from the passenger door switch? The motor is shown on the drivers door as being connected tosilver/green 0.5 - runs to sunroof (probabbly not there or doing anything relevent)red/yellow 2.5 this is the feed from fuse F71 (30a) (this is usually one of the two to break as its thicker wire)brown/blue 0.5 connects to switchGrey/Red 0.5 this goes back to the central junction box not clear what it does exactly but its connected to an transistor (would guess its to do with stopping the window moving at end of travel?)Green/Red 0.5 Same as above connected to other side of transistorBlack/Grey 0.5 Feed from fuse f2 (10a)Brown/White 0.5 goes back to fuse f55 (5a)Brown 0.5 Return to ground (from memory i found this was actually 2.5 cable not the 0.5 shown) Also likly to snap if thats the case) Goes to the earth point under drivers seat. Not sure if that will help you, but I'd suggest checking the 3 fuses and the wires and go from there. Quote
mark230678 Posted April 1, 2014 Author Report Posted April 1, 2014 ThanksAll fuses are good have pulled all of them just in case. The mirrors don't work either. When the wires are spliced, only the drivers side window works before blowing fuse. Quote

When the wires are spliced, only the drivers side window works before blowing fuse. As the controls for the other windows are also in the drivers door i would disconnect the connectors for all the other doors as a short in the wiring in those doors may be linked up when the wires. Does sound like all the door and the tailgate harnesses need a good check over Quote
BrianH Posted April 1, 2014 Report Posted April 1, 2014 When you say it works does it stop when its fully open? or does it appear to keep going? The suggestion by SilverBeast makes sense - you can disconnect the other doors by turning the connector around which will narrow down the problem somewhat. Don't rule out the boot gaiter just because it doesn't appear to make any sense either.... Quote
