Trislander Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Ok I've started new thread see what u guys thinkNow have a "shaky" driveFeels like a wobbling car while driving there is a slight "wearing" noise (usually if wheel bearing is gone but its not that) it is clunky during gear selection but its always been like that since I've had it (2 years) mechanic thinks gearbox problem Would it be complete change of specific fault which could be repaired cheaper? Any thoughts ? Quote
Trislander Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 One thing to add (probably unrelated) if engine at idle in neutral ticks over fine if revved to about 1100rpm slight vibration and wobbly feeling over that seems to rev fine no "wobbling" Quote
Trislander Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Just been told could be driveshaft Mechanic had it off yesterday and put back on wondering if he's disturbed something and its causing it to shake while driving?Seems odd that its only happened since then rather than gearbox Quote

Trislander Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Genuine Bosch mafJust been told its the diff in gearbox so new gearbox :-( Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Don't dispute what you say but first one I've heard of with diff problems and the symptoms your describing don't sound like diff either.Be sure get a second opinion before splashing out on gearboxes. As I said the CV joints are a common problem, another thing that would give you shuddering shaking vibration is the duel mass flywheel. seatkid Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 Check the (gearbox mounted)Â engine roll restrictor is not loose or bolt sheared. Common problem. Quote
gregers Posted March 1, 2014 Report Posted March 1, 2014 as seat kid says, you can check this yourself.with the engine off open bonnet grab hold of the engine block and try and rock it,if it moves easily then its looking like the roll restrictor. Quote
Trislander Posted March 1, 2014 Author Report Posted March 1, 2014 Defo gear box now bought one and got a mate changing it tonight and tomorrow Quote
