Ford Galaxy Mk1 2.0 First Gear Struggling To Move

I'm wondering if anyone can be of help, the car seems to lack power at bottom end and sounds like i'm racing to pull off some times, as soon as i'm in second, the power seems to be there but first is rather flat if it makes any sense, is this normal, has I had a sharan and that seemed ok.

Is there any chance the clutch is slipping in first gear? I assume it's a manual box? If the clutch is on it's way out it's going to slip in the lower gears where most torque is being transmitted to the wheels. If it's a manual gearbox it's unlikely to be a gearbox fault, it'll either transmit drive in first gear or it won't.

Its a manual box, i'm not sure if the clutch is bad or ought tbh, it goes in gear fine and doesn't make a noise if that helps.

The Ford 2.0 petrol in the galaxy is noted as being pretty gutless, which engine did you have in the Sharan.

2.8 in the sharan and yeah i know it was a bad comparison really lol, one thing to note though other cars are gone from lights way before me, even the automatic galaxys etc, I know the car is heavy so I wouldn't expect to see much of a pull off but this is bad.

Ok think insanitybeard has found my problem, seems the clutch is slipping, tried the 4th gear test and car sits there and doesn't stall and it explains what the burning smell I get in the cab occasionally too, thanks for the help guys, will fit a clutch in the next couple of weeks and post a update.

Borrowed the works 2.8 once.  It was still accelerating at an indicated 130, but that was enough for me.  It did use a lot of petrol though.
