chromedome Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 It will most likely be a Dual Mass Flywheel type. People have tried doing the solid flywheel conversion only to regret after but the choice is yours. I would recommend that you replace the clutch slave cylinder at the same time as it's mounted in the gearbox bell housing. Quote
tetleyles Posted February 22, 2014 Author Report Posted February 22, 2014 thanks for reply chromedomeleast i now have a rough idea of what its going to cost mewill stick with dual Quote

I have just changed mine to solid clutch after replacing TWO dual mass clutches - first one after 20k miles!! 2nd one lasted a bit longer (80k). Quote
chromedome Posted February 22, 2014 Report Posted February 22, 2014 I can only go by what I have read on this forum. Watch your gearbox!! Quote
Rodders 46 Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 If your lucky you may get away by just replacing the friction and pressure plates if there's not too much play in the duel mass. Also If anyone tells you to get the duel mass flywheel welded (it can be done) to stop the play, DON'T or you'll finish up ripping the new friction plate and/or gearbox to pieces. Quote

xavier Posted February 26, 2014 Report Posted February 26, 2014 What were the symptoms you're experiencing? I'm thinking my clutch might need done (car is at 108k) as I can hear what can only be described as a scuffing sound occasionally. Quote
