acecard Posted February 21, 2014 Author Report Posted February 21, 2014 ACE,hope you end up being happy with it,BET you stall it more times then the mk2 :lol:Can't believe it - it stalled on me in a Morrissons car park - was it me or was it the car?Otherwise behaving well so far though i have noticed that sudden surge of acceleration that quite a few have mentioned Quote

gregers Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 TOLD YAH :16: :16: :16:Â yes m8 just like the smax, and from my research you have to get the correct size wheel etc.and as mine are 18 inch snowflakes thats what i got with the correct tyre,i have it strapped to 1 of the middle seats as i do not usually have my rear most seats up,also if you do decide to go down this route make sure you get a decent lifting capacity jack.im assuming like the smax there are a few stowage compartments you can stash it in. Scorpiorefugee Posted February 21, 2014 Report Posted February 21, 2014 Sorry Acecard, I forgot about the spare. Ain't progress wonderful. Another case of the lunatics running the asylum. When you actually compare the MKIII and the MKII and perhaps more so the MKI you really wonder if they have lost the plot completely. They've improved the emissions by about 15% but increased fuel consumption by the same amount. That should please the green lobby! They've replaced comfortable adult seats with a park bench. They've removed cheerful interiors in favour of two tone matt black. They've added so many distractions to the control panel it's a wonder the driver ever gets round to actually doing any driving. And, as far as the spare wheel is concerned, what happens if you get a blow out in the wilderness on a Sunday night? I think some of these "improvements" have been forced upon us since the Ghias were replaced by Titaniums so they're still at it. I wonder what the next stages of lunacy will bring. Actually, there are some improvements such as .........Suggestions please. :5: :5: Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 "computer says no"??? There has to be something. Quote
gregers Posted February 23, 2014 Report Posted February 23, 2014 if you do the on board diagnostic check, then scroll through the menus it should tell you what version you are running, iirc i read somewhere its something like'1007' is the most upto date 1???. Quote
Scorpiorefugee Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 Gregers, I was commenting on the lack of suggestions about any ways in which the MKIII is better than the MKII & MKI. Quote
acecard Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) ?? There has to be something.theres quite a lot of things I like about it in comparison to the Mk2, especially the folding seats and I particularly like the SEAT pack which is why I bought this particular one. I wanted the option of folding mirrors and the seat memories, also the starter button as I could never find the ignition lock in the dark (illuminated lock would have been a nice touch. Climate controls seem good so far but I do miss the illuminated rear heater switch at the rear of the mk2 - don't know why, it just looked prettyOn the downside: It certainly isn't as perky in low gears as my 130 mk2 and what happened to those dashboard compartments - they were really handy.I know there are compartments under the front seats but try getting something out of those on the move!Interesting trip computer - if you set it to show the instant mpg rather than average - it tells me I am doing somewhere between 0.1mpg and 0.2 mpg when the car is standing still idling - that used to blank out on the mk2. Scorpiorefugee Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Acecard, The starter button is a result of technological progress - not a design improvement.I hate the folding seats because the horribly uncomfortable rows 2 and 3 are a direct result of that change. The seat pack is an optional improvement on all models and was available on previous models. The rear heated switch on the MKII and MKI was replaced by a useless climate control on the Ghias but I preferred your version. The climate control on the MKIII is less complicated but still fiddly. Still prefer the old 3 knobs which could have been made thermostatically controlled without a computer and a myriad of buttons and LED displays. The trip computer on the MKII  was much better, easier to use and gave more options. I think that puts us at about -5 OK. The radio is sort of better but you need a co-driver to use it. :29: Gregers. Life gets tedious, don't it. :22: Edited February 24, 2014 by Scorpiorefugee Quote
gregers Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 i find my seats more comfortable in my smax then i did in my old mk2,but maybe thats because there half leather?? dunno about the mk3 but in the smax the aircon seems woeful.in the mk2 it wasnt brilliant, but in a mk1 i test drove the missus was VERY PLZED TO SEE ME, :38: :16: Quote
gregers Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 OK. The radio is sort of better but you need a co-driver to use it. :29:Â i dont find it that to difficult,as my smax has the convers dash board and i can change a lot in not all the settings from there,1 thing i do have trouble with is making phone calls through the buttons on the stereo,i just use the phone itself and let the bluetooth take over. Scorpiorefugee Posted February 24, 2014 Report Posted February 24, 2014 (edited) Gregers,Mine's got voice recognition and it is actually very good. The only trouble is I can't stand the bl00dy awful Samsung phone that I got to work with it. OK. Minus 4 - maybe. I got the fright of my life when I caught the button on the indicator stalk (You know! Where the horn used to be in the good old days.) and this voice came from nowhere and kept asking me to select a function. I've thrown the Samsung thing into the kiddies toy box after a month 'cos I got fed up with charging the damned thing every 36 hours or so. I wanted a telephone not a kiddies toy and games machine. I've got a proper one now - with buttons! and the battery lasts nearly a month. Proper job!  I know I'm a dinosaur but I don't care! :21: Edited February 24, 2014 by Scorpiorefugee Quote
acecard Posted February 24, 2014 Author Report Posted February 24, 2014 Acecard, The starter button is a result of technological progress - not a design improvement.IWell, I don't know about technological progress.I once had a car. so many years ago I can't recall what it was now. Maybe the Anglia 100E.You turned on the ignition and then pulled a  knob to start it - ok so now you push.. So far as the seats are concerned. they may be less comfy but its a good trade off as far as I am concerned. Sick of lugging those damned heavy items in and out of the car and finding somewhere to store them. Blame them for my hernia in 2009. Quote

davewill Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 I have had 2 Mkll's and now 2 Mklll's and certainly prefer the Mklll overall. I have the Titanium 2.0 TDI 170PS and find this to be superior to the 140ps i had previously The Ford bluetooth and voice activated functions are superior than many other cars including my neighbours  2012 Mercedes ML350, which by comparison to my Gal is like the Anglia to the Capri. i also have the Seat Pack and find this very useful. I chose mine with the Panoramic roof, although during the winter months have kept the roof blinds closed.  I suppose when the Sun does finally come out, i will go for full Sun exposure. I also purchased a 17" full size Titanium wheel and tyre, and keep this in the garage at home just in case of a puncture. I have experienced one puncture so far on my previous Gal, and whilst i tried to use the gunk and compressor to provide a "get me home", it was about as useful as T**s on a Nun!! In future i will get recovery out to get me home, then put the spare wheel on  Cheers Quote

Scorpiorefugee Posted February 25, 2014 Report Posted February 25, 2014 Acecard,It's a bit of a win lose with the seats. Even the grandchildren ask to go in the Picasso and I haven't found anyone who wants to get in the back more than once so I might as well leave them down permanently. The only benefit of leaving them up is that it improves the sound dampening. Quote
