Hi

Question re Diesel Fuel additives

As far as I understand! older diesels such as my 2002 TDI could benefit from a fuel additive such as dipetane.

Is this your view, and if so what is the product you use.

is there a  better product to use one that

I heard a while back from someone in the motor oil industry that ones with a ep additive are superior, problem is I have forgotten what he meant by ep, and what it means in this instance. I think the p was for pressure!

Think he also implied that dipetane was acidic!!

I use Millers diesel power EcoMax. when I researched this some years ago, I found that it was highly recommended as initially I was reluctant to use any additive - prefer to be cautious.

The main reason was that emissions were creeping up on the Mots near to failure point.

Now I add  the ecomax to a full tank about a month before the MOT, book it in for an afternoon slot (so there's no chance of the engine cooling down much before the test), anfd give it an italian tuneup in the morning before taking it in,

Emissions have been fine since doing this once a year.

I totally recommend Millers diesel power Ecomax. Keeps the injectors clean (low smoke/emmisions/maintains good mpg), increases cetane (runs smoother, quieter idle, easier starting) and supposedly improves lubricity (longevity of pump/injectors).

Its not an aggresive additive (safer), comes from the UK and a reputable oil company (Millers).

Works on all counts for me.

All additives require time to do their stuff so expect gradual improvements over 3 to 4 tanks.

Wouldnt trust any product from USA. (Slick50 killed my passat......)
