Hi, I've seen some threads about fitting the timer kit for the aux heater on the galaxy but all the links to kits and things are out of date. Has anyone done this recently as its something I would really like to try thanks for any replies.

The timer/programmer is in the photo, the battery is not part of the kit and was only fitted when a car had the independent heating option when ordered from new.

The problem will be if you don't run the car long enough to recharge the battery you could end up not being able to start the car, as you can imagine when using the heater without the engine running draws a substantial amount of current iirc about 25 amps as you will have the car blower, auxiliary water pump fuel pump and the Ebersp

Hi Folks,

Has anyone fitted a DIY override switch for the aux heater? Or bought a low cost kit, possibly with a timer.

I'd be very interested to hear from anyone who has done this. The wiring diagram on the Mirez web page

http://www.mirez.co.uk/Galaxy/PDF/Galaxy%20-%20Auxiliary%20Heater%20Information.pdf

shows that you would only need a double pole switch to give 12v to the temp sensor and engine on sensor inputs. Would this be all that's needed? Would the electric circulation pump also come on?

Any thoughts?

Cheers

All you need to do is remove the multi plug from the air switch clipped to the wiper linkage, connect a two core cable to the plug or cut the plug off and join, then run the cable inside the car to a simple on/off switch.

Pump should run all the time engine is running and 3 minutes after switch off (115ps engine)
