traff Posted October 28, 2013 Author Report Posted October 28, 2013 thanks for the input guys....i managed to pick up a recon unit from flea bay.... Quote
xavier Posted October 29, 2013 Report Posted October 29, 2013 could you turn the blower motor by hand? I watched a youtube video of the eberspacherparts guys freeing the motor off using a craft knife to clean the corrosion from around it. Quote
traff Posted October 30, 2013 Author Report Posted October 30, 2013 yes i did see that as well.......mine was very noisy..squeeling and kept stopping ...kept tripping out ...vag com said combustion chamber blower motor open circit...reset a few times...but gave up the ghost....i did strip it out to look at it in detail...it did spin freely but when connected to a power source..no go..ive binned it now........regards traff Quote
xavier Posted October 31, 2013 Report Posted October 31, 2013 well done having a go though! I've not come across recon units before on ebay, just second hand units. Out of curiosity, are the D5W and D3W interchangable, or do you have to get the correct version for your car? I know the Mk1 and Mk2 aren't compatible (actually, is this true - will a mk1 heater work on a mk2?). Quote
traff Posted November 2, 2013 Author Report Posted November 2, 2013 i just happened upon an independent seller...out of the blue..so to speak..maybee somebody is watching out for me..all i know is mine is the d5wz model ...dont know if d3 is compaterble.....also the mk 1 wont work on a mk2......dont quote me....traff Quote
chrispb123456 Posted November 3, 2013 Report Posted November 3, 2013 Never actually tried a D3WZ on a MK 2, what I can tell you is the D3 controller is dumb and has no connection to the cars diagnostics and is a lower output 3kw as opposed to 5kw Quote
