I took a motor from a diesel Vauxhall omega (mounted under osf headlight)  its been in my galaxy for 2 years now.

new motors are available--approx.

could you turn the blower motor by hand? I watched a youtube video of the eberspacherparts guys freeing the motor off using a craft knife to clean the corrosion from around it.

well done having a go though! I've not come across recon units before on ebay, just second hand units. Out of curiosity, are the D5W and D3W interchangable, or do you have to get the correct version for your car? I know the Mk1 and Mk2 aren't compatible (actually, is this true - will a mk1 heater work on a mk2?).

i just happened upon an independent seller...out of the blue..so to speak..maybee somebody is watching out for me..all i know is mine is the d5wz model ...dont know if d3 is compaterble.....also the mk 1 wont work on a mk2......dont quote me....traff

Never actually tried a D3WZ on a MK 2, what I can tell you is the D3 controller is dumb and has no connection to the cars diagnostics and is a lower output 3kw as opposed to 5kw
