Hands on Mark Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 My aircon pump is failing and threatening to disable the car as lots of other stuff runs off it. Price of a new pump is too much for the value of the car and the aircon hasnt worked for years. Does any one know if there is a way of disabling the aircon pump but keeping everything else running (take aircon pulley off and fit a shorter belt perhaps) Quote
gregers Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 iirc there is a pic and details about this somewhere on here about this very subject,do a search. Quote
seatkid Posted October 11, 2013 Report Posted October 11, 2013 Just disconnect the 12volt plug and the clutch will never engage. Quote

Hands on Mark Posted December 15, 2013 Author Report Posted December 15, 2013 Thanks for the advice - I'm sorry I wasn't clear enough. It was the Bearings that were failing so I needed to bypass it completely.Actually I got really lucky and found a private seller who had taken one off the car he was scrapping, he only lived 10 miles away so I picked it up, fitted job done - 200,000 miles is now well within reach, fingers crossed!
