seatkid Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Check Fuse 14 (20A) Other possibilities are F13 (3A), F16 (20A) and F32 (3A) Quote
chrispb123456 Posted October 9, 2013 Report Posted October 9, 2013 Also check the smaller wires haven't broken off on battery terminals. Quote
Dave Dodd Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 (edited) cheers for your quick reply but is this for the early type fusebox? sorry its a 1997 not 1998 galaxy, taa Edited October 10, 2013 by Dave Dodd Quote
viperclive Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 Hi Dave I also have 97 2.3 gia X, when I bought her the battery was loose and had been sliding side to side, this had messed up the small wires on battery terminals, I had poor connectors on end of wires and had to re-solder them, even lost window wipers because terminal on battery had come loose, so your problem could be one of the terminals. Dave Dodd Posted October 10, 2013 Author Report Posted October 10, 2013 cheers, ive checked all the electrics near the battery. everything else works are there any hidden fuses or relays? Quote
seatkid Posted October 10, 2013 Report Posted October 10, 2013 cheers for your quick reply but is this for the early type fusebox? sorry its a 1997 not 1998 galaxy, taa Now he says.... :glare: No, info was for 98->00 models. Well.... today I'm just not in the mood.... :P Quote
Dave Dodd Posted October 11, 2013 Author Report Posted October 11, 2013 thanks and sorry... lol.. but i assumed it was 98 as its a R reg.. Quote
Dave Dodd Posted October 14, 2013 Author Report Posted October 14, 2013 Ive a main power coming in to relay 30 but have no switched power to it.. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Have you checked/probed the wires on the back of ignition switch. Quote
seatkid Posted October 14, 2013 Report Posted October 14, 2013 Check F18 (10A) Otherwise it looks like an ignition switch/wiring problem. Also worth check if any of the smaller wires have not broken off the positive battery terminal. Quote
Dave Dodd Posted October 15, 2013 Author Report Posted October 15, 2013 thanks guys, for your replies.. i have check all the wires at the back of the ignition switch, tested okay and also traced them back the fuse box, where they tested okay. have also tried a different fuse box. do you happen to know what the pin number is for the switched live on relay 30 or the wire colour? then i may be able to trace that to a possible break. cheers for your help so far :) Quote
seatkid Posted October 15, 2013 Report Posted October 15, 2013 Can't be sure but I think the power side (contacts) of the relay are RED +12v in and Black/Yellow out. I think the +12v power from the battery goes through fuse(s) in the Battery junction box, which is located forward of the battery. There are several live feeds from the battery +ve terminal via small gauge wires and several members have had wires broken from the crimped connectors (or nor reconnected after major work). Quote
Dave Dodd Posted October 17, 2013 Author Report Posted October 17, 2013 thanks, have checked everything, as far as i can see.. have now tried by passing the the relay and do get ignition light and indicators :) but wont start :( does this relay power up anything else? Quote
