Hi All,

I’ve got a 2012 Galaxy that’s done less than 10k miles and whilst all seems fine, I’m getting uneven tyre wear on both front tyres.

Its Tracked and Balanced to factory settings and none of the tyres are over or under inflated.

I can see that others have posted rear tyre wear but nothing ref the fronts.

In both cases, the outer third of the tyre is significantly worn whilst the remainder of the tyre is only half way through its life.

Any advise appreciated.

Thanks

I have a 61 reg with 225/50R 17 and increased the recommended front pressure to 40 psi as I could see them going the same way if left at 35 psi am now on 19.600mls and still have 2 to 3mm on the edges

welcome to the forum!

As crispb points out, I never run my front tyres below 40psi whatever the load and they do fine at that pressure.

Having said that, in your case, under inflation would cause excessive wear on both edges not just the outer.

Who checked the tracking? I once made a mistake by letting a well known group beginning with kw do mine, after which it ate tyres like butter until I got it done by a reputable garage and now its spot on.

Has it been involved in any accidents?

Thanks gents, appreciate the advise and I'll try inflating to 40psi. I agree, I would have expected to see equal wear on the inner edge if it were down to tyre inflation, that said there is some wear to the inner edge of both tyres and whilst its not as excessive as the outer edge I'll pump them up and see how I get on.

The tracking was checked by a local tyre firm, however I've used them many times before and they are highly recommended (ironically, my local Ford dealer also recommended them as their equipment is far more advanced than Fords own).

Thanks again for the advise, I'll keep you posted.
