Fraz-ktf Posted October 2, 2013 Report Posted October 2, 2013 Hi. My driver's windscreen wiper was about 5" short of vertical on the final part of it's sweep, meaning there's a huge part of the windscreen by the pillar that wasn't being cleared. Reading on forums, I decided that a strip & lube of the mech. was in order to sort out the problem. I duly followed the tutorial, the spindle almost fell out on the driver's side and took 30 mins of lube and working to get the passenger side spindle out. Plenty of wet & dry action, oodles of copperslip and re-assembled. Also I split all the ball-joints and greased them up for good measure. Fitted it all back together and an hour later (After a million wiper-off / wiper-on tweeks) I eventually got the wipers to sweep the screen without catching eachother, coming to rest in the right place but to my horror, the driver's wiper is still the same 5" short of a full wipe! (The passenger's does a full wipe, to parallel with the pillar) I really need the driver's wiper to wipe fully until it is parallel with the pillar but I just can't fathom out what's wrong. If I move the resting place of the driver's wiper, I can get it to do a full sweep but then the passenger's wiper jumps off the pillar (Over-wipes) Help please, it's sending me nutty(er) Quote
