Peterjohno34 Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 Hi all, first post here. My galaxy suffers from the rear waher inop but it is not split in the n/s sill. It is burst or split in the engine bay. I think the split is behind the bulkhead somewhere but getting to it is a real pain. Does anyone have a layout or knows the route the pipe takes from the sill joint ?? Many thanks in advance Quote
gregers Posted September 14, 2013 Report Posted September 14, 2013 welcome to the forum. this is what i found using the search facility ;) http://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/index.php/topic/23662-front-footwells-wet-clocking-rear-wash-04-mk-2/?hl=%2Brear+%2Bwasher+%2Bpipe&do=findComment&comment=169327 Quote
Peterjohno34 Posted September 14, 2013 Author Report Posted September 14, 2013 Hi Gregors thanks for the welcome and the link.Reading through the link you posted talks mainly about leaks coming into the car from various points. My problem is my rear washer pipe is split somewhere in the engine bay in a seemingly inaccessible position, and i was looking for any help in trying to trace the route it takes from the interior through to the bottle. It does not leak into the cabin. What extent of the car may possibly be needed to be removed to get to the pipe ? Is it dash out ? Wing off ??Thanks again. Quote

Theres a join at the front which comes apart due to it being frankly pathetic - its originally just 2 rigid bits of pipe pushed into a short section of flexiable pipe. It comes apart as detailed above and i'd say you will likly find the end of it is somewhere further up in the engine now - it could be its become caught on something and pulled out. If you take the screws out and that cover off you should be able to see the joint just under the level of the glovebox. I'd be surprised if the fault is elsewhere given the awful "design" of this particular part. I fixed mine more permanently with a couple of fuel line clips either end of it. At least one of the bits of hose is bright orange in mine so should be easy to see. Quote

Edit - it may help to remove the bulkhead panel to locate the loose end you need to thread back through? should be able to see it though as you can operate it to find the end? Quote
Peterjohno34 Posted September 15, 2013 Author Report Posted September 15, 2013 Thanks for the tips. I shall endeavour to fix this pain in the backside.Cheers Quote
Fraz-ktf Posted September 16, 2013 Report Posted September 16, 2013 I have exactly the same issue. The water is not coming into the car, it is leaking from a pipe somewhere under the bonnet and then escaped water runs out from the chassis. The car is dry everywhere. Does anyone know the route the pipe takes after it leaves the washer bottle, to get to the joint in the passenger sill please? Thanks Quote
Peterjohno34 Posted September 16, 2013 Author Report Posted September 16, 2013 Hi Fraz. We are completely in the same boat. Looks like its glove box out and trace the pipe up as far as you can go. I asked originally if anyone knows the route the pipe takes from cabin to engine. Quote
