Cam Belt Cost

I have an 20 sharan diesel that has done 55 k with the current cambelt.

I had it serviced today and on collection they advise a new belt soon.

Any idea how much this would cost in a garage ?

Is it a straight forward job to DIY?

I did the belt on my mk 1 tdi along with the water pump and found that was a pain so would rather get them to do it but it will depend on the cost

On my 52 plate galaxy, it cost inc vat, 289 for the cambelt and water pump to be done at my local garage.

 

Your best bet is to get quotes, as that is what i did first. Some will charge more, some less.

So has your car covered a total of 55.000 and it's still on the original belt? if it's the original it's overdue

04-2000 to 05-2003  40.000mls or 5 years Belt & rollers

 

06-2003 to 03-2006  60.000mls or 5 years Belt Only

It's far from its original belt, its got 200 k plus on it

But the last belt change I can find in the service book is 55k miles ago in 2009

If I was you I would get that changed ASAP
