2010 Galaxy 2.0 Diesel Zetec 140Bhp Auto, Help!

I wonder can anyone help before i have to pay the ford dealer £95+vat just to connect to the diagnostic machine.

I have a 2010 galaxy zetec 2.0 diesel 140 bhp automatic, 1 have 75,000 miles on her and recently she has been making an odd noise shortly after startup. it sounds like windscreen wipers scrapping across a dry screen. at first it happened only once and now after a couple of months has progressed to 3 or 4 times in the first 5 minutes of running and not again for the rest of the day. I must conffess i dont spend a lot on sevicing as i am a taxi driver and this year have had a number of other bills that have had to be paid. so i am wondering if there are any breathers to do with the aircon, auto box, pas or some that require a filter change as this noise sounds like some sort of pressure release. it seems to come from the front passenger side. Any advice would be much appreciated.

have you done the on board diagnostic check?

if there are codes listed then google them and see what comes up.

Are you sure it's not coming from the alternator clutch pulley?

I had something similar and like chrispb123456's post it was related to the alternator area, I ended up changing the alternator and the pulley at great expense.
