Hi folks,

I shouldn't have to ask this question but it's not abundantly clear in the manual.  I'm putting the cylinder head back on and setting up the timing.  There are two pairs of timing marks behind the camshaft hub, is it the pair with the narrow width that should be aligned with the 4Z mark?

Should the camshaft timing tool (6mm diameter bar) go through the camshaft sprocket and hub into a locating hole in the cylinder head?  If not, what is it's purpose?

Thanks,

Yozza

It would help if you gave some details about your engine (model, engine code, year)

Hi Yozza

The 6mm pin or drill bit should be used to lock cam, did you paint mark the pulleys before you removed belt?

If you didn't would advise getting the crank locking tool as the only mark on the crank sprocket is made to line up with arrow on the tool itself. (fig 8.13a) in the haynes book.

Thanks for the replies and apologies for the lack of engine info.

I have the locking tools and finally got the camshaft to lock at TDC, I was lacking in patience (again).

I've built it all up now but she is resisting (a new post is on the way)....
