jcol Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Tailgate has jammed on my 2002 galaxy - the central locking elsewhere is working fine, and can be operated from the tailgate, but can't feel the usual click when trying to open it. Any suggestions? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted June 14, 2013 Report Posted June 14, 2013 Have you tried using the key in the tailgate and turning it fully anticlockwise past the normal unlock position Quote
jcol Posted June 15, 2013 Author Report Posted June 15, 2013 OMG..it worked! Unbelievable..thanks! Much appreciated..But..still won't work with central locking..Should I just carry on using it like that or can I repair it? I can hear a whirring noise when it is open and I lift the handle up.. Quote
chrispb123456 Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 Well done. Right now you can open it you need to check the wiring running through the gaiter to the door, you will most certainly have some broken/chaffed wiring in there. You will need to run some new wires through the gaiter and have the joints in the tailgate and the body pillar. jcol Posted June 15, 2013 Author Report Posted June 15, 2013 So guess I need to undo the assemby at the bottom of the tailgate, and see if I can work out which gaiter at the top the wires go through, and see if I can locate them in the pillar..suppose the wire colours should guide me - I'm pretty new to this as you can probably tell! There seem to be access squares on each side of the door card..not sure how they come off? Quote
SilverBeast Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 I'm pretty sure the wires are in the Drivers side gaitor, All the wires join up in the cubby hole where the jack is stored on that side. I know the rear wash hose goes through the passenger side gaitor. I'm sure someone will be along to confirm this Quote
chrispb123456 Posted June 15, 2013 Report Posted June 15, 2013 (edited) All the wiring goes through the drivers side right hand gaiter, the washer tube goes through the other. Edited June 15, 2013 by chrispb123456 Quote
jcol Posted November 2, 2014 Author Report Posted November 2, 2014 Eventually got around to tackling this problem, and just pulled out top end of the rubber gaitor on right hand side of the tailgate, and pulled it back to expose the wires - found one broken and simply reconnected them - fiddly, but end of problem! Hopefully this may help others with a similar problem! Quote
BrianH Posted November 4, 2014 Report Posted November 4, 2014 FYI its better to replace the dodgy section - you might get away with it with the boot but certainly the door ones tend to just break again (sometimes with the doors then unable to open if the deadlock engaged at the time). Quote
