Hello all, I'm new on here (today) and am starting to realise that people who are mad about galay's know probably more than my local grease monkey! First off, my name's Paul and I live in Medway, Kent - hello to you all! I have a 2002 galaxy tdi (90bhp) running the ANU engine. I bought it off a mate who had injector 2 replaced after it started playing up. 20k miles later, its running rough again, computer showing injector 2 fault again. I bought a tried and tested/cleaned 2nd hand injector and had it fitted with a new seal kit - still rough! New fuel filter has been fitted and the fuel tank is clean - compression is good on all 4 pots.

I really need my car! Its been over a week now and i'm really stuck as to what to do - VAGCOM and other fault finding kit is showing a clean bill of health - I have some but limited knowledge and I have definitely had the correct injector fitted, same numbers and definitely for the ANU engine. Could it be electrical? Please help guys, I can't keep shelling out on this and stabbing in the dark!! Many thanks.

Hi and welcome to the forum

Am a little confused with your statement, computer showing no 2 injector fault again and then you say Vagcom and other kit showing clean bill of health.

Electrical faults injector wiring loom will give a fault code on Vagcom, however cam lobe failure probably  won't.

Is your problem intermittent or all the time.

I am also in Medway if you would like me to scan your car just to make sure.

Hi there mate - sorry if its a bit unclear, I was probably babbling a bit! Fault reader still showing injector 2 fault but injector 2 is healthy. I've been trawling through previous posts and the more I read, the more its probably pointing to the injector loom perhaps? The loom has come up in lots of posts. Thanks for the offer of  code reading the car - its in Larkfield at the moment at my works workshop - I work for On Time (recovery) and one of our mechanics is doing it piece meal after work. I'm back at work on Saturday - if theres still no joy I'll be backloading my car and bringing it back to Twydall, Gillingham. If it continues to make me sob (!!) I'll definitely take you up on your offer to diagnose this for me. Do you think it may be the injector loom thats at fault rather than (expensive!!) injectors? I've seen a couple of looms on ebay - I just don't want to buy the wrong one. I've read of people disconnecting and removing this piece, cleaning it, contact cleaner on plugs then refitting making problem go away. I just wish I had more knowledge!! But hey, got you now! Lol!

Sorry chrispb123456, the fault cured itself initially if I turned off the car, waited 10 minutes then fired it back up fine. If I leave the car for a couple of hours or overnight, back to square one again - running rough. I ran the car in our workshop for over an hour on idle with no issues and I thought it had cured itself (maybe a clog that cleared) but then the next day I fired it up and it was rough again. Hope this helps.

Hello again, I have found an injector loom (part number 038 971 803) If mine is ok I'm thinking of buying it anyway as a spare as this part seems to give lots of bother according to other posts.
