I have a list of problems with the galaxy, some small, small bigger. Looking for tips, advice or solutions please.

1. Horrible growling noise from drivers side engine when accelerating hard. When cruising or accelerating gently car is fine. Open drivers window and noise seems less but maybe cos of outside noise drownin it out.

2. When using the auto kickdown function, car drops a gear, makes a lot of engine noise but doesnt really accelerate very well. In fact it probably accelerates quicker driving normally. Ive changed the auto fluid but still the same.

3. Keyfob has become very intermittent. Will normally unlock car after a couple of presses but will only lock the car once in a while. Changed the two batteries but no improvement. Recoded the fob to car but still intermittent operation.

4. The display screen for the trip computer occassionally loses one side of its display. Happens when the weather is warm and very rarely when weather is mild. Its like the screen fades from the top left corner and slowly spreads to middle of the screen.

Thats about it for now. Thanks for any help.

Key fobs do get a bit tired and will probably pack up completely, screen display is also affected by warmer/hot weather.

As for your noise when accelerating hard, power loss 110mph + are you having a laugh or what.

the growling noise I have the same on my gal I was thinking it may be the exhaust (the middle box) or back box mine look a bit on the rough side but it doesn't blow had it up on the ramp and checked but the insides might be goosed hence the growling will let you know if it helps once its done I think my noise is around the 2000rpm-2500rpm then goes off I have heard that the key fobs work intermittently before they pack up completely

The growling noise isn't a wheel bearing, it's definitely engine related. Car sounds lovely when idling or cruising and accelerating gently. But put your foot down to accelerate from standstill or in gear and the growling noise begins.

Looks like I will be spending out on a new keyfob then too!

Not done it on the galaxy but have replaced switches in the keyfob on a couple of cars to fix this problem. They seem to wear out over time. fairly easy if you can use a soldering iron.

Can't find one specifically for the galaxy but sharan is listed here - although you don't really want 100 of the switches!
