chrislloydie Posted June 1, 2013 Report Posted June 1, 2013 Im in the process of fitting an egr blanking plate. However im confused. Does the blanking plate go where the egr bolts on with 4 bolts or does it go where the flexi pipe meets the other pipe which is left and down from the egr unit and there are 2 bolts joining the pipes? That bit is shaped the same as my blanking plate. Quote

chrislloydie Posted June 2, 2013 Author Report Posted June 2, 2013 Have you looked inside an EGR valve? Its full of black gunge. Blanking can help with juddering, fuel economy and prevent it from gunging up again and seizing up. Quote

chrispb123456 Posted June 3, 2013 Report Posted June 3, 2013 What's to be gained by fitting a blanking plate (blocking the small flexipipe) when removing and plugging the vacuum pipe to the EGR diaphragm gives the same result, the valve stays shut.The smaller vacuum control on the EGR should be left alone (connected) as this is the anti shudder valve which operates when switching off engine. As ive already got the blanking plate then figure I may as well fit it anyway. Are you saying it should go where the flexi pipe meets the egr cooler pipe on the left side? Quote

gav@home Posted June 19, 2013 Report Posted June 19, 2013 i made me own plate and done away with the whole caboodle and just blankd the vacum pipe of, best fing ive ever done 2 a td, save all the aggro of cleaning the egr and the inlet manifold as i would have to do if it was a paying job and its better on fuel now, so well worth it!!!!!
