chrislloydie Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 Been reading some horror stories about this gettinh blocked or splitting. Can anyone pinpoint it for me and advise how to check its working ok please? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 The oil feed pipe is just a steel pipe with a union nut a each end, it can get twisted and fractured if not undone correctly. Two spanners are needed one to turn the pipe nut and one to hold the nut union from turning, this means grinding down a 17mm spanner to fit between the turbo housing as there's not enough room to get a full size 17mm spanner in the space. The other end is fitted to the oil filter housing this is easier to deal with. bigdave982 Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 On my old mk1 ,after having 2 fracture(talking to cabbies apparently it happens a lot after cluch changes, maybe mechanics hanging off them) I replaced it with a flexible braided stainless jobbie like the braided steel brake hoses you can getLocal racing car placemadeit upfor me Quote

Trislander Posted May 29, 2013 Report Posted May 29, 2013 I've just had to pay £68 for one from fords today my mark 2 tdi Quote
xavier Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Geez £68! did you try VW? The refurb turbo ads on ebay tell you to replace the oil feed pipe and claim it's £30 from Frauds. Quote
Trislander Posted May 30, 2013 Report Posted May 30, 2013 Yeah long story short vw £35 but had to be ordered for next day delivery but had to call in to pay in advance (£20 taxi ride as had no wheels) then collect again next day (another £20) they would not take payment over the phone . So fords a shorter journey and had it in stock so took the hit and went for that option Quote
