oberon Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 I have a 2003 MK111 1.9 diesel Galaxy and need to adjust the tick over. My garage only has the Snap On tool so does anyone have the codes and procedure for the Snap On tool and keep me out of the hands of my local Fraud dealer. Of course once upon a time I would have turned a nut on a cable, progress eh! Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 23, 2013 Report Posted April 23, 2013 For what reason do you need to adjust the tick over? Quote
oberon Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 Hi, the tick over is a fraction too low and the belt/pulleys resonate, another 100 revs smooth it all out.thanks Quote
chrispb123456 Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 If your talking about the auxiliary drive belt tensioner bouncing about, this is usually caused by the alternator clutch pulley seized or the tensioner pulley worn or both.About 850 RPM is right when the engine has warmed up. Quote
oberon Posted April 24, 2013 Author Report Posted April 24, 2013 Appreciate the reply, the engine ticks over at about 850rpm and the aux belt and tensioner were renewed last year by a Ford dealer. How can I tell if the alternator clutch is seized, can it be repaired or is a new alternator required? Cars done about 87,000 miles. Thanks for help. Quote
gregers Posted April 24, 2013 Report Posted April 24, 2013 (edited) look in the faqs for instructions on how to test if the pulley is seized.and if your near me i have the tool to remove it. Edited April 24, 2013 by gregers Quote
