I have a problem with my autobox on my 2.3 zetec 2001 galaxy and have bought an ob2 elm 327 cable.......will this read the codes because the 4 speed autobox is manafactured by vw?????meaning  vag com software.....or do i need another cable obd2 specific.....????????????????

Vagcom/VCDS will give more info and will connect with the temperature sensor in the box (essential for checking fluid level)

 

Gearboxes are Japanese (Jatco) and are used in many vehicles including Jaguar and Landrover.

So now I have the vag com cable in the flesh lol and have downloaded vcds lite from ross tech......how do i connect and run it and it doesn't do any daamge to the car itself does it???...........................my problem is the intermittent change from 3rd to 4th only does it now and again overrevving between 3rd and 4th but is v annoying and only does it at temperature (engine at 90 degrees),and never on motorways only round backstreets when going 30-40 mph..............all other selections are fine...................will vag show the fault if there is one.
