bluemood Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 My 2001 Ford Galaxy may need a new wiring harness. I've been told that this has to be ordered from Volkswagen in Germany, and will cost £800 just for the part. I'm trying to locate a less expensive alternative, whether a non-original (compatible) part, or maybe used/from salvage (perhaps too risky). Any ideas? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 7, 2013 Report Posted March 7, 2013 Are you sure you don't just mean the injector wiring loom? VW part no.038971600 about £60 Quote
bluemood Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 Unfortunately, it's the harness. There's a problem with the gears (automatic). The transmission is fine - the electrics person found the problem, which is two wires that have fused together. He's going to have a go at replacing them, but apparently the wiring harness is a bit temperamental and not that conducive to fiddling around with, so he said that if his fix-it-up didn't work, he'd have no option but to replace the whole unit. bluemood Posted March 7, 2013 Author Report Posted March 7, 2013 Thanks. I hope the fact that an expert has visually inspected it means the rest of the wiring is at least visibly sound. Of course, I also hope I'll win the lottery! Quote
