wiggum Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Hi Guys for a while i have noticed a diesel smell coming from the passenger side of my 2003 1.9tdi 130..i had a non ford mechanic look at it and he thinks there is a very slight diesel leak coming from the fuel pump on the passenger side of the engine. he seems to think that it may be a case of having to fit a new pump £££ or maybe get mine removed and reconditioned does this sound right?can't you get a new gasket/seal for it etc? anyone that can offer any help it would be much appreciated thanks Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 4, 2013 Report Posted March 4, 2013 Mine was leaking from the cover held by about six small bolts, i tried sealer on the old gasket then made a new gasket still leaked.Bought a new tandem pump in the end just over £300 Quote
chrispb123456 Posted March 6, 2013 Report Posted March 6, 2013 Ouch!!! Bloody fordsVW actually. Quote
seatkid Posted March 12, 2013 Report Posted March 12, 2013 Just read this - its referring to Audi's but the same engines and possible theres a recall A number of second-generation cars built between March and August 2004 have fuel pump problems. Cars fitted with three- or four-cylinder diesel engines might have faulty bolts on the tandem fuel pump cover. A diesel leak could occur if the bolts break. Quote
wiggum Posted March 12, 2013 Author Report Posted March 12, 2013 thanks for that seatkid.... mine was built in 2003 or poss late 2002 but maybe worth a try chrispb123456 - maybe a vw design but its in my Ford which means Ford thought it was acceptable and worthy of being in the blue oval so they are still getting abuse!! :28: Quote
