i seem to have developed a slight shudder on the clutch when pulling away in 1st gear. Model is 1.9Tdi 2003. Does this mean clutch is on the way out or maybe a bit of water has got in with the recent floods?

Could be due to any number of reasons. Does it happen all the time or only when the clutch is warm? (My little punto does a wonderful little shake with a nicely warmed clutch)

It could be due to condensation among other things or your clutch may be on the way out - both possibilities that you have mentioned.

Personally, I would wait and see if it gets worse before deciding to invest in further investigations.

In al my experiences with clutches (specially with Renault espace :27: ), you'll get enough warning before you need to take action.

There again, never had a problem with a Galaxy clutch so I might be talking through my hat.

Loose or broken engine mountings can give clutch judder, if the clutch has been changed before it could be down to the way it was refitted, if the clutch wasn't aligned correctly this would make it difficult when engaging the gearbox input shaft through the clutch plate and can end up bending the boss on the clutch plate.

Leakage of oil or fluid could also give this problem always more noticeable in 1st & reverse

Clutch hasn't been replaced, seems a little better so hopefully a bit of damp got in.
