smithyuk73 Posted October 13, 2012 Report Posted October 13, 2012 Hi I previously posted regarding an issue with my 1.9TD Alhambra 2003 plate but cannot find my origonal post. It run almost like 3 Cylinders when hot. I am attempting to change the coolant temp sensor. I removed it last weekend but had trouble trying to find the part. I collected the part this morning but am having difficulty fitting the plastic clip. Dose any have any tips or images of how the clip retains the sensor in the hole. Thanks in advance for your help. smithyuk73 Posted October 13, 2012 Author Report Posted October 13, 2012 I have managed to break the Thermostat housing when removing the sensor. That is the reason I was struggling to re fit. The obvious next question is best place to find one. ts a 1.9TD on a 2003 palte. Thanks Shane Quote
smithyuk73 Posted October 14, 2012 Author Report Posted October 14, 2012 Hi I have managed to sort out the thermstat housing. After all this the sensor that is fitted to the Thermostat housing is for the temp gauge. I need to replace the sensor that tells the ecu the temp of the engine. Does anyone know where to find this?? Thanks Shane Quote
chrispb123456 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 Just to clear any confusion the housing where the sensor fits is not the thermostat housing, the thermostat lives in cylinder block where the bottom hose attaches to the block. The temperature sensor has a duel function sending info to the ECU and operating temp gauge. OK thanks for clearing that up I thought I have changed the wrong sensor. Maybe my problem is not linked to the temp sensor then, the guage has always worked fine. Only two wires to the sensor if I disconect it the gauge does not work. Any other possible causes for rough running when hot? Quote
chrispb123456 Posted October 14, 2012 Report Posted October 14, 2012 You really need to scan your car with Vagcom/VCDS lite, you may have an electrical fault in the wiring to the injectors, the lead can be purchased from ebay for under a tenner then download the free software from ross-tech. Quote
