Scope Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 When I last changed the front disks on my 1.9 TDI Galaxy (2003 model) I had no idea about 288mm vs 300mm disks, and fitted a 300mm disk based on the recommendation of the online dealer (which might well have been correct, as they perform perfectly fine), however I now need to change them again and I was wondering how I can tell whether to fit 288mm or 300mm.. Will it be in the handbook? What would 1.9 TDI 2003 model typically be fitted with? Quote
sparky Paul Posted October 9, 2012 Report Posted October 9, 2012 (edited) Most mk.II cars are fitted with 300mm disks. The hub carrier and relative position of the brake caliper differ between the sizes, and the disks are not interchangeable - so if 300mm fits, that's it. Edited October 9, 2012 by sparky Paul Quote
MadBaz Posted October 11, 2012 Report Posted October 11, 2012 Don't take this the wrong way but for anyone else that's wondering, 288/300mm refers to the diameter, easy to measure with a tape measure. <runs and hides> Quote
