"little Circle Thing"

On the back of my galaxy I have a little black circle thing sticking out from the headlining near the boot, it is connected to something electrical but have NO idea what it is or does.

Not sure, but could it be a 12v outlet. Great for small fridge (beer cooler etc).

The 12 volt socket(s) are normally at floor level on the left side of the tailgate opening, this supplies power to those plug in accessories you can get but always check power consumption usually a maximum of 15 amps is allowed.

Often wondered about the rating for that accessory socket - if you've got any gadget that draws 15 amps for any length of time, better keep the engine running!

Good point, it does mention this in the handbook, but then not everyone has or reads the book. :angry2:

im sure ive read somewhere,probably just the mk2,that if the voltage drops below a certain level then it wont charge any more????.

I'm sure that's in the manual for my late mk.I, but I've never tested it. :angry2:

 

IIRC, if battery voltage voltage drops below a certain level, power to the sockets is cut.

Just another thought... is this little black circle thing flat with a wire coming out of it, and stuck to the glass, or been previously stuck to a window?

 

If it is, it could be the inside part of a through-glass antenna, probably for an old taxi radio or hands-free mobile kit.

There is one at the front as well just above the rear view mirror, are they alarm sensors? If so how do you activate the alarm? I don't know if my car even has an alarm or remote central locking lol

Its the Infra Red sensor for the remote key , only found on the very early models.

 

One at the front & one at the rear.

I tell the kids that they are cameras and they download to my phone so I can see if they are mucking about when I'm not there, IT WORKS lol ok central locking infra red sensors which have never worked in my 97ghia x any ideas?
