elhayes Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 My Diesal 2ltr galaxy has only done 50k, I take it to my local Ford main dealer as it is making a 'whistling ' noise on acceleration, they tell me it needs a whole new turbo unit at £1350 ! This is alot of money for me and I am annoyed as the car is only 4 years old. My question is, Does the car really need a whole new turbo unit, or is there possibly a chance that it only needs a replacement of 'part' of the turbo unit at a lower cost, but the main dealer just couldn't be bothered to check this? opinions please!...also, Is a 'turbo unit' something you could get from a scrap yard and get fitted for less money? chrispb123456 Posted October 1, 2012 Report Posted October 1, 2012 Do a search on the net for reconditioned turbo's as there are places out there that repair them to a high standard.turbo's are a precision piece of equipment and would be wary of scrap yard units. Quote
