Hi all,

I have been having a strange problem with my drivers side break/side light.

Every time i press the break peddle my front side light comes on? I had this trouble once before and found the problem to be was a blown bulb where the break filament had some how blown and welded itself to the side light filament....what are the odds of that!!

No such luck this time...i have checked the rear cluster, bulbs and found no problems. The only thing I haven't checked is the front side light bulb and wing indicator bulb.

Not sure if it can be down to a faulty break light switch because when I turn my side lights on at night my break lights start flashing intermittently all the time.

Any Ideas and has anyone else had this type of problem and what did you do to fix it?

Regards

Check the wiring in the rubber gaiter to the rear tailgate, the wires break and short together with the constant opening shutting of the door.

You will need to cut out and splice in new cables, do not try and join cables in the gaiter they will only break again.

This is a common problem it can also happen in the drivers door gaiter which causes problems with windows and central locking.

As chris says probably shorting wires in the tailgate gaitors. Another possibility is the fitment of an incorrect bulb or bulb incorrectly fitted such that the the brake/parking light circuits short together.
