"green" Brake Switch Problem

I've just attempted to replace my brake switch, as brake lights failed and glow plug light flashing.

I went to Ford and purchased a new switch for £20! I was told its a new type (Green instead of black), but all connections (4 wire version) were the same.

I replaced the switch, but brake lights still did not work, so I ended up repairing the old switch. Brake light s work, but glow plug light still flashing.

Is there some trick to fitting this new style? as it apears to have some sort of locking mechanism on the plunger.

That link was very useful. Looks like a may have broken the switch during installation :P

I'm going to have to buy a new one as I bought my while on holiday, and my local dealership won't replce.
