I have noticed that I have a quiet squeal coming from the front of the car - I need to work out what's causing this but the problem is its only present when the car is moving at about 20mph plus, the noise is present even if the car is out of gear and freewheeling. The noise doesn't get worse turning or straight ahead and stops when the car is stationary. This is coupled with a wheel wobble (left to right in the stearing wheel however there is no forward backward wobble) any ideas where to start would be great!!

Sounds like a slipping drive belt to me LLoyd - assume you've checked that?

when you here the noise is the sircon turned on?

if so it might be the clutch plate on the air con compressor working itself lose.

or the dreaded pully on the alternator?.

It's more a squeal than a whistle!! On the way home from work tried turning the engine off while rolling along... Noise still there!! I can hear it from about 20 mph up till 40 when the wind nose blocks it out!! Any ideas would be greatfuly receved

Engine off, noise still there. Id be looking at brakes and praying its not a wheel bearing

Check your rear disks to see if they are stinking hot - be careful not to burn yourself!

Its common for the parking brake to stick on, on one or both disks (usually the drivers side) and squealing is a usual symptom.

Don't think it's any hotter than the fronts ( without burning me!!) think the noise is the front but maybe I'm wrong!! Is there any other way to check if it's a stuck calipar??

Level ground - Engine off - Put the car in 1st gear to prevent it moving. Jack up each rear wheel in turn and releasing the handbrake, check they spin freely.

The rear brakes are a likely suspect. I had an annoying squeal that I nver noticed until I had the window open down small roads. After checking the rear calipers I found that the caliper was partically seized and once replaced the squeal wwent.
