Stereo Wont Turn Off

I have installed a stereo and for some reason when I switch off the ignition the stereo remains on and I haveto turn it off manually any ideas how to resolve this.

Even once you've taken your keys out of the ignition? as i know mine stays on but not after i've taken the keys out of ignition.

Yes even after Keys have been removed i had to go back and turn it off the other day as I left it on.

is it an aftermarket radio ??

perhaps radio permanent feed isnt wired through an ignition switched live ? in other words its always powered up.

My Sony came with an adaptor which had the wires setup incorrectly - for me the permanent power was swapped with the switched feed. Might be worth checking ...

If it's a mk1 iirc there were some bullet connectors with red and yellow wires that had to be swapped around.

Don't know if it helps I blew my switched live when fitting a Sony aftermarket so the switched and perm live (Red and yellow) were connected together. The switched wire has a small purple fuse 2.5 amp if I remember. Replaced that and connected correctly and all works fine. Dave
