Hi All

Apologies if this has been covered before but I can't find what I am looking for on a search...

I have a 2002 Seat Alhambra 1.9TD PD 115bhp.

The top mounts of the front suspension squeak and groan like anything (when steering) but only after it has rained. I replaced the top mounts and bearings (using pattern parts) about 18 months ago. The old bearings were shot at the time but it did not get rid of this noise. I think it must be the rubber mounts making the noise - has anyone else encountered this please? It is really annoying and quite embarassing as it is quite loud lol.

Cheers

Phil

Had that problem with lower ball joints drying out, making creaking noises, try an oil can while gently levering open the top of boot with small driver.

I did wonder about this but it does sound like it's the top (from inside the car) - I will investigate a bit more, Cheers

PS its defo not a drive belt noise - its from the steering itself

Have you checked the Alternator pulley? This sounds like it could be that. Do a search and check it out.

Hi,common problem- rain water runs down shield and collects in top.spray with good oil onto nut and cover with cling film etc ,problem solved BRY

Yes it is a common problem but as the top mounts and bearings have been replaced it rather counts them out. I would still check the alternator pulley as that when going appears on steering - Although I admit the raining bit does tend to thow it off a bit.
