Whats What?

Hello people, I've just bought my Galaxy and was wanting to know what a certain button on the cluster does. Mine is the 2.3 Zetec 16v, and the button in question has a letter P with arrow's to the right of the letter. I actually think it's the rear parking sensors, but!!!! I get a beep when I select reverse gear and then the beep stop's. I get no proximity warnings what so ever, which is why I questioning it. I have tried it while the button light flashes and when it's turned off. Can anyone shed any light on this for me? Needless to say, no reversing sensors are operable.

If you get a beep from rear for 3 seconds and flashing switch when selecting reverse/or pushing button in, then there's a fault. Usually one of the sensors, do a search on here for "parking sensors" and there's lots of advice.
