Weimster Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I have a 2008 Galaxy and have never had an issue getting into the fuel before. Turned up to add some fuel this afternoon but I was (still am) unable to get the fuel cover to open. I have tried locking and unlocking the car but this makes no difference. Is there a manual opening mechanism? How on earth can I get into it please? Just to clarify, its not the circular fuel cap that you unscrew, but the actual cover plate. Quote
MadBaz Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 (edited) I'm not familiar with the mk3 but I'm sure I read somewhere that on the mk1/2 you could get to the central locking actuator from the boot cover panel, I maybe talking utter b''''s thoughhttp://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/public/style_emoticons/default/wacko.gif (NIK this is one for the MK3 section) Edited April 13, 2012 by MadBaz Quote
hot Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I read in the owners manual that you remove the cover(inside near fuel filler) then pull the wire. Quote
Weimster Posted April 13, 2012 Author Report Posted April 13, 2012 I read in the owners manual that you remove the cover(inside near fuel filler) then pull the wire. Thanks guys. Looked for a cable, but no sign at all, so in the end I resorted to good old fashioned muscle and forced it open. No damage thankfully and the central locking mechanism did start working again for a few minutes before this time freezing up on the open lock (for the fuel cap). So at least I can no refuel, I just have to hope no diesel hunters come calling until I can get it repaired. Quote
MadBaz Posted April 13, 2012 Report Posted April 13, 2012 I shouldn't worry about the diesel hunters, a hefty conical spring is usually stuck in the filler to prevent siphoning, it's much more efficient to stab a chisel into the tankhttp://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/public/style_emoticons/default/ph34r.gif Quote

Used the car today and the central locking is now working fine in the fuel cap as well, so not sure what happened!?! Oh well, I have no money at the moment so pleased I didn't have to shell out to get it repaired. Quote
