Main273 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 Hi,I just bought a 2001 1.9tdi galaxy. The dealer cleaned the interior. Well they must have stood in the car with a presure washer and gone mad. The carpets are soaked. They are drying out slowley. A few problems have started to come to light:1) It stinks really mouldy, 2) The radio display keeps looking like its in Russian,3) The heating control lights keep flickering on and off,4) When i put it into reverse the dash lights illuminate and reverse lights dont work. Are all the above faluts to do with water in the electrical system and will the cler up once the car is dry????? Also how do i get the musty smell to go once its dry??? thanks Chris Quote
gregers Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 i would suggest you take it back to them and tell them to sort out any problems that have occured.iirc under the sale of goods act you have 28 days to reject the car.the reason why im saying this is if as you say they have made the interior wet they might have caused no end of trouble to the wiring/electricals that the longer you leave it MAY be very expensive to fault find and rectify.IT MAY as you say just need drying out and everything will be fine, but i always ere on the side of caution when it comes to dealers.so i let them sort out any problems 1st. chrispb123456 Posted April 7, 2012 Report Posted April 7, 2012 They may well have cleaned the interior but more likely rain water is entering the cabin, there is a thick sound deadening mat under the carpet this absorbs the water and will at least need lifting or removing to dry properly. The passenger side footwell contains the washer supply to the tailgate, there is a joint in the pipe that disconnects itself if the pipe freezes from then on the washer bottle just empties itself into the footwell Flashing display panel briefly when starting means a fault been stored in HVAC this is most commonly low refrigerant in the aircon. Dash lights on in reverse is broken/chaffed wiring in tailgate gaiter. There are a few other reasons for wet passenger floor the most common is the washer pipe Other less common are; Sunroof drains (if fitted)Scuttle drainsHeater matrixwindscreen Quote
