Hi

I have a 99 mk1 2.3 petrol manual

If I accelerate and have to immediately brake I'm finding the pedal hard to push and struggle to stop, If i'm just cruising along the braking is fine.

Any idea, valve or something maybe?

Regards

Maximum vacuum is created on tick over and overun, on acceleration there is very little so I would say your stored vacuum is leaking away when you accelerate, firstly check the servo pipe connections at the servo and at the inlet manifold, look for splits in the rubber connector.

This could also be the non return valve stuck open on the servo pipe connector or worst case servo diaphragm which would require replacement servo

Ok thanks

Did think maybe it was to do with the servo vacuum pipe/valve, will have a look and post back my findings

Cheers
