Heated Window And Locks

hello again , heres a puzzler for you , my 2001 mk2 tdi has developed a fault (surprise surprise )the heated window stopped working and tailgate lock worked intermitently with the c/l . went to it today and have no cl at all . changed batteries in fob and light just blinks . locks perfect with key in door but when open the same way leaves tailgate locked ....help please .thank you

easy this one its the tailgate wires snapped in the rubber tube causing the fault the rhs tube, dont join wires but insert new wire or itll snap again. with regards to your remote not working just reprogram it as the the faq's at top

2 types of mk1 infra red and radio, yours is radio so here you go, not sure why it went dodgy but taking batts out makes it lose info. try this for mk2

Insert the ignition key and turn from position II (Ignition) to position 0 (All off) and back four times within three seconds.

Remove the ignition key. The locking control system is now in "learn mode" for the next 20 seconds and the red warning system LED (By the clock) stays on continuously to indicate this.

During the 20 seconds press one of the transmitter buttons. The remotes signal and code number is learned by the locking module and is indicated by flashing the warning system LED.

Wait until learn mode times out (20 seconds) or switch the ignition back to ON.

it never worked . there is no led light by the clock ? only led is on the door . thank u ... could it be because 3 wires are broken where you said

Note:

The GEM will exit programming mode automatically if four remote transmitters have been programmed or if no new remote transmitter has been programmed within the 15 second programming mode.

 

1. Close all the vehicle doors.

 

2. Note:

Make sure the door lock cylinder is held in the unlock position for more than 0.5 seconds.

 

Insert the key into the driver door lock cylinder and turn the key from the rest position to the unlock position three times within five seconds.

 

3. The door lock light emitting diodes (LED)s will illuminate for 15 seconds during the remote transmitter programming mode, allowing the remote transmitter to be programmed.

 

4. Remove the key from the driver door lock cylinder and aim the remote transmitter at the interior rear view mirror.

 

5. Press and hold the LOCK button on the remote transmitter.

 

6. While holding the LOCK button down, press the UNLOCK button three times on the remote transmitter.

 

7. Release both buttons simultaneously.

 

8. Make sure the door lock LEDs flash five times, confirming that the remote transmitter has been programmed.

 

9. After a remote transmitter has been successfully programmed, the GEM will reset the programming mode, allowing a further 15 seconds to program the next remote transmitter.

 

10. To program additional remote transmitters, repeat steps 4 to 8.

 

11. Make sure that all the doors lock and unlock, confirming that the GEM is no longer in programming mode.

 

12. Test all the programmed remote transmitters, by activating and deactivating the locking and unlocking functions.

yep tried this one , the led light on the key flashes 5 times but the door does nothing , do you think its bust .

if it did all the above and done all its flashing it means its programmed to the car, if you need a new remote you need exactly the same type as used on the galaxy. remember the car is made by vw

does the led on the door go solid on ?? and then flash when the key buttons are pressed? If it goes solid then AIUI its gong into programming mode if the led doesnt flash when the buttons are pressed then either you havent pressed buttons correctly or the remote is dead :-)

led does nothing on the door , flashes when doing the twistin bit as do indicators but when i program remote the key flashes but the door led is not lit up at all .

when you put car into programming mode you have to turn key fast if the door led doesnt flash it aint done proper

tried again . when i open door with key led on door goes off . try the programing bit ,indicators flash but led in door does nothing . fob light flashes 5 times . re-lock door with key and door led flashes as normal . getting the idea the key is jaked . all i need .no work for 11 week no brass and a key that dont work . life is gooooood :-)

bit puzzled by this - i could understand you unlocking the door sort off **the first time going from rest posistion but what is all ths locking the door business ?????????

 

close the doors (nobody said lock them)

cant remember from the last time I did this whether the indicators flash or whether the led goes on for 15 sec - it must be at least 6 years since I last did it

the flashing led means alarm is on dont confuse it with programming. all i can advise is that your not putting car into the correct progging mode, give it more goes as an eg ive no locks on mine apart from boot so have to use that lock and you can feel between locking unlocking easier than doors give it a go to get the hang of it for doing the progging.

so i do the 3 turns which is very quick it just needs a small turn then wander to front to do the deed. even tho i8 know what im doing and have done it loads of times its still a "knack"
