fred basson Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 i am replacing rear brake pads, the piston obviously has to be retracted to enable space for new pads,what's the trick? i have tried screwing them in, tried applying pressure with the aid of a big screwdriver!! all to no avail. chromedome Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Don't forget to release the excess brake fluid through the bleed nipple and not back into the system. This has been known to damage the ABS and master cylinder. Quote
sparky Paul Posted February 13, 2012 Report Posted February 13, 2012 Several suppliers make cheap wind back tools now, you can pick them up for around ten quid, including on fleabay. It can be done without, I used a piece of square keysteel and a g-clamp before, but it's fiddly. The tool is worth every penny. Quote
