aafs Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 (edited) I was hoping someone could shed some light on this problem , I've recentley changed all 4 shock absorbers plust 2 front strut mounts and bearings but the car feels still feels like it's been on an off road escapade!! Confused and bewildered I am because they have all been replaced with Brand new monroes. Any thoughts? Ford Galaxy 1.9tdi auto 115 Ghia 2005 Edited January 24, 2012 by aafs Quote
zorgman Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 just the way they are you could put lowering springs on which would tighten up things. the shockers only control the damping but the springs control the amount of up/down. 35mm drops on ebay Quote
aafs Posted January 24, 2012 Author Report Posted January 24, 2012 I suppose after such high mileage things can't be like new afterall. I don't fancy lowering it as it's too complicated as it is . I was hoping for a more spongier ride with finnese and certainty , but now it's like I'm off roading till the shocks get warm and things settle down. I should have gone the whole way and put standard new springs on ! Quote
2004AUY85kwTDI Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Hi, I fitted 4 new Monroe Reflex not long ago and is very happy. When I pushed the old absorbers together the resistance was uneven and one was totaly without gas. The car is much better, I have several speed dumps on the road were I live and driving over them is much much better. But it is a tall car with high gravity center so I gess it will never be among the best car to drive (the reflex dampers are recomendend for big/tall cars). I must say that I have not driven any good new car lately so I am not the right man to tell if the car is good or not, but there were a big difference with new absorbers. Quote
Shabazmo Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 I fitted 2 munroe reflex to te rear and Delphi to the front and the car is solid and rides well. Sounds as though the front or rear are not right. what is the bounce test like, before and after. Quote
aafs Posted January 24, 2012 Author Report Posted January 24, 2012 I have no idea what the bounce is like apart from it feeling like it's completely knackered but once they are warm it's not too bad . Seems like the old gal is going to be retiring soon ! Quote
