aafs Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 Hi I know this question has been a very known common fault here in the forum, my old gal now has done 191000 miles now and I've been doing the fault finding quests as usuall , I.e MAF , Boost pressure sensor , Egr valve and the common turbo related issues with sticky vanes also catalytic convertors packing up and reducing exhaust pressure . Just recentley out of the blue I've had a loss in power and a local garage that insisted it was the turbo , to be quite honest I thought it was that , after hearing the whistling and whining over the few months and a general lack lustre of performance I thought the problem was the turbo . So after spending my hard earned dosh the problem is still there ... WTF? after feeling like a rabbit . And some usefull reading here on the site like inlet manifold cleaning , I'm thinking this could be the problem ... Is there anyone who has had this problem where the loss of power happens after car is warmed up from cold ? Sorry for the long sermon apologies  Quote
zorgman Posted January 24, 2012 Report Posted January 24, 2012 whats the error codes your getting when read off Quote
aafs Posted January 24, 2012 Author Report Posted January 24, 2012 The mechanic who checked my car out said that only boost pressure came up. He didn't give me any numbers and could not find a fault code with the vehicle stationary, so off he went trying to lease some life into my car with no luck but only a TURBO PRESSURE fault? I had taken it to someone else a so called specialist and they could not even get a reading. Does that mean due to the manifold being rancid the turbo is not kicking at optimal levels along with maybe boost pressure sensor that needs sorting? Quote
aafs Posted January 27, 2012 Author Report Posted January 27, 2012 Thanks for the advice I know these cars are suspect to carbon deposits on the vanes , I'm not shy of giving the old girl a thrash ! I got the car stripped out to see if the inlet manifold was clogged up ... And to my surprise it wasn't too bad at all , after several hours at the mechanics they insisted that it was the turbo at fault . Now I've allready put a brand new spanking turbo a few days earlier and I was quite frustrated as my problem was still here . Mechanic said my MAF and boost sensor was ok , but I was doubtfull as I had this problem prior to changing the turbo, feeling like a rabbit WTF?!!! I decided the only thing left to do is change the sensors as the fault was electrical , I used to buy Euro car parts for my Air flow meter as the price was affordable , so after spending a small fortune what's the point in cutting corners now ? So off I went to VW to get original parts as ford are alot more expensive , ( ford galaxy is all VW under the bonnet anyway! ) Quote
