Temperature Guage And Fuel Guage

Afternoon all

 

Temp guage

 

Right now i am having some issues with the temp guage, it has decided not to work at all. I have checked the sender and it looks ok to me, plus the guage will work sometimes, but will only just get over the white mark. Any adice appreciated.

Now this one seems odd to me. The guage decides every now and then not to work, but only when the tank is full or nearly empty. Any one got any ideas as to why this would be happening?

If they both gone wrong at the same time then possibly cluster or connection to cluster, if fault came at different times then possible faulty temp sensor or connector on cylinder head, should be able to confirm with VCDS lite if available.

Fuel tank sensor is under the middle row of seats under inspection plate under carpet again could be corroded connector or faulty tank unit.

there is an ssue with the sender and instrument cluster mismatched on early mk 2s - they only cured it with a change of instrument cluster o ours but you are describing the symptoms we had although trying to remember back 8 or 9 years I thought there was an issue with the incorrect door being reported as open on the dash display as well
