Saif Rehman Posted January 21, 2012 Report Posted January 21, 2012 Hi all, Been away from this site a while now which probably meant i had years of trouble free motoring! But no, had a lot going on in my life. Well anyway, i have a problem: The Key Fob stopped working yesterday as my wife was shopping in the local Asda store. She locked it ok but on return wouldn't open, tried the blade but still nothing. She phones me at work and got a taxi home. I got home thinking it was the batteries which i changed and off we went late last night. But still nothing. So the car was left there all night. This morning after phoning a few locksmiths, i went down armed with a trade can of WD40 (with a straw) and proceeded to give the drivers door lock a good soaking. After a few hours, nothing. Got a RAC guy (through a friend of a friend of a friend!) to come out who gave the key a wallop whilst in the barrel and eventually it opened and got the car started. But still no luck via the fob. He did check the fob do see if it was working with one of his gizmos and it was fine.I had the car battery changed on Tuesday but the key fob was working fine, so i stumbled to the cause of the problem. I have searched the forum but all list programming additional fobs (I only have the one). Can anyone shed any light or do i need to go to the stealers? Many thanks. Saif Quote

Just for clarity, i have got into the car and drove it. It is just that for some strange reason the key fob has stopped working. Quote

Hi gregers mate, We have used the ASDA car park umpteen times with no problems. Yes, i managed to get in buy using the blade but it was some hassel with due to lack of use of the blade, meant that the door locks were totally covered in grime. The drivers side key went in by 1/2", passenger side by 1/4" and tailgate nothing! Totally strange as it was fine before the missus went in for shopping but gazumpped on return. My intial thought was that i had a new battery fitted but that was quickly dismissed has the car was used after that for a few days.I'll try phoning around some local autosmiths to see if they can shed any light, but all feedback will be greatly appreciated Quote
