seatkid Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Is the forum back and running ?how long for ?Well the forum is finally back up after a few weeks, it was up briefly a while ago before falling over again, lets hope it lasts a bit longer this time. However its still not right, if you post a reply, it goes to the "There appears to be a problem.... screen" although the reply is posted. Any chance Glen could fix it and possibly comment on the problems? (Also posted this comment under General) Quote
chrispb123456 Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 Glen don't reply to any post unless he started it, have lost interest in this forum now, as admin is non existent and I have now moved on to a new forum, but will still look in now and again. It's a shame as there are a good few knowledgeable members on like yourself here willing to help. daddyfixit Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 its just done that to me as well ?? but great to see it back on-line, gives me someone to talk to rather than the missus........... Quote

gregers Posted December 27, 2011 Report Posted December 27, 2011 well it was a case of doing something,so a new forum has been set up to cover all ford mpvs,i will still be a member here and help deal with any problems that occur but as a mod i have very limited powers on the actual running of the forum,so my hands are tied, for many months this forum has been having problems.i have on many occassions pm'd glen about them i have even contacted the admin on the piccasso forum for help to see if they can get any kind of response from glen, and have recieved a few pm's from there admin but nothing from ours, maz rejoined got made admin again then disapered.i think this is a very good forum and the essance of it is spot on.unlike a few others.but needs are must,i wonder how many loyal members have left never to come back due to the problems this forum has suffered.regards gregers Quote
Bigjeeze Posted December 28, 2011 Report Posted December 28, 2011 CAlm down and wait a while before disappearing off! I know there have been problems but thios site has been around a long time and most of that time it has been fine so give Glen a chance. It may be that we need to donate some money to help with the expenses. Patience chaps , patience! Quote
sparky Paul Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 I can completely understand the frustration, but it would be sad to see folk drifting away and, perhaps ultimately, this forum closing due to lack of interest. This site hosts a wealth of information going back years, and I for one would like to say how grateful I am for the help I have found in members' previous contributions. It would be a great shame to see this encyclopedic resource of all things Galaxy to disappear for good. It sounds like there are members who would have been willing to take a more active roll in the upkeep of the site, but for whatever reason have been prevented from doing so? Quote

Patience chaps , patience!Hi BJ Can't agree more but an admin team that only appears once in a blue moon is not good either, Glen has never replied to PM's i've sent, donating has already been suggested but if the guy can't be bothered to reply what do you do, if someone has a problem they expect a reply at least in a few days how patient have you got to be. I know a lot of you guys have been on here a good few years and you feel dedicated to this site, I would probably feel the same but would also feel angry and frustrated when the sites left to run itself, its all about communication!! There are other sites out there as you well know that have excellent mod and admin teams, there's no reason why another cannot be started its not a competition at the end of the day its people's choice. seatkid Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 Ah -_- ...but the difference is this site is quite unique..... This site, unlike so many others, is (mostly) NOT a site devoted to blinging bragging modding with useless or illegal mods boasting about oversized alloys and skinny tyres ponitificating about winter tyres and how "flying bomb" brand is the best thing since sliced bread. remaps, tuning boxes, stage 1,2,3,4,5,6,7..... how low you can lower your car before it scrapes the tarmac moderators who are frustrated control freaks so called experts touting myths manufacturer undercover agents posing as gurus to put down criticism I could go on...... It is simply a site that is down to earth and has just about everything you need to know about keeping MK1 / Mk2 Shalaxys running in lots of detail provided by some very experienced hands on guys who also accepts even newbies have important gems to add to the knowledge base. It'll be a travesty if other sites do plaguarise the info here. Quote
NikpV Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 moderators who are frustrated control freaks wel I'm sure we could oblige :rolleyes:-_- - unfortunately as mods we have very little power HeHe Quote
gregers Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 ive have been a member of this forum since 2003,and in that time it has like others saved me an absolute fortune.as already stated by others a lot of the members here have a very good knowledge base.the faqs over the years have been added to and it has grown into a exelent point of reference.and may it continue. NikpV Posted December 29, 2011 Report Posted December 29, 2011 In terms of the forum I'm not sure how much in the way of donations would make it economic to continually update, monitor and maintain - it was always a free site !! As you probably realise looking through the previous threads that I was at one time quite active on here  so much so that when I met Glen a few years ago my wife told him she was citing it as part of the divorce -_- neither of us took her seriously ... ooops she did 5 months later. Despite a years break whilst I really didnt have the time or inclination to visit, I have tried to file:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/nik/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot.pngfile:///C:/DOCUME%7E1/nik/LOCALS%7E1/Temp/moz-screenshot-1.pngkeep in touch, update the FAQs as folks suggest new threads tidy up the duplicate posts etc but without an admin panel and some access to the server its difficult to keep the site up and running. I notie it is stll throwing an error when you post (although the post does appear) Without some input from glen I dont know hat the answer is. Quote
