hi matey,it could be the comfort control module(or ccm for short)which is fixed under the carpet-under the passenger seat...it can suffer from water ingress caused by either blocked sunroof drain holes or blocked plenum drains(under the bonnet in the far corners).....

or it could be broken wiring where the wiring runs through the doors to the main body of the car??

let us know if any of these are the case :)

I had this with my MK1, it was broken wiring in the tailgate rubber gaiter. IIRC the driver side & flap are on a separate circuit to the other doors. My windows would occasionally open themselves thru the nighthttp://www.fordgalaxy.org.uk/ford/public/style_emoticons/default/blink.gif

It could possibly be the drivers door gaiter and as suggested possibly the cl module if under the passenger seat.

Thanks all, one thing though is I did look under the passenger seat and there is no box under there! There is also no open ended plug as if there should be???? Is it located else where??? I will check the wiring in both door and boot gaiters.

Thanks.

Ok, so I removed the tuber gaitor on the tailgate and all the wires were shot and this was obviously a problem that had been Bodged back together before. So I've put the wires back and still no joy! The fuse is In tack! Where is the c/l module on a 99 galaxy? It's not under passenger seat.

Where is the c/l module on a 99 galaxy? It's not under passenger seat.

On 98-on models it's part of the body control module, which handles a whole host of electrical functions. It is situated behind the dash, and IIRC it's a dash out job to get to it.

However, they are very reliable units, and a wiring fault is much more likely. Make sure the tailgate wiring is all intact and correct, and also check the wiring to each passenger door, particularly the driver's door.

Hi

Iv'e just had a problem with my central locking.

It cut out completly the doors would only open with the key but the other doors would not open at the same time. The car is a UK right hand drive

After reading several postings I looked under the carpet in the passenger side footwell there is a wiring loom, inside this six red cable had been soldered together and had perished, I cleaned them and resoldered back together, tried the central locking and now works perfectly.

Hope this helps

willsm - looks like you've got some water ingress in the passenger footwell too. I also had a problem with these 6 or so red wires perishing, and as they were in a puddle, they also began to smoke!

Check the black trim under the passenger side wiper, specifically the upper most clip that holds it in place - that's where my water was coming from.
