Can anybody help or offer me some advice on the following annoying niggles on my Ford Galaxy mk 2 2002 -

1) Fuel Gauge shows the correct amount of fuel in the car and then just drops off of the face of the earth for no reason to show an empty tank?!

2)Temperature Gauge starts off at 0 on start up moves up steadily as the engine warms up to 90 (mid way point) and then drops to 0 again...does this constantly as you drive.

3) MPG readout on the on board computer flicks from 13.4 MPG to 37.8 to 76 to 149 to 199 MPG then flat lines...then starts up again doing the same thing?!

These are probably very minor niggles and in honesty dont effect the mechanics or running of the car, but I just would like to put them right.

HELP! please

Hi and welcome to the forum

Is the car new to you? did you buy the car with the fault or has this suddenly started happening.

Did all faults appear at the same time.

The MPG readout do you have it set on instant consumption or average consumption

Hi yes the car is new to me, it didnt have the fault when I bought it just over a month ago.

The first fault to appear was the temperature gauge malfunction followed by the fuel gauge and then the latest is the MPG read out which also worth mentioning is that the trip computer also resets to 0 miles when the engine is turned off.

The MPG is set on average consumption.

Thanks for the reply

The resetting of the trip has come up a few times, iirc check fuses 31 to 34

You may have a bad connection on your instrument cluster.

Connections to fuel tank unit and temp sensor shouldn't be ruled out but would be a coincidence for both to be at fault
